Alison and Michael | Cincinnati Wedding

Alison and Michael were married on August 13, 2011 in the Chapel at St. Ursula Academy. Their entire day was full of people and places that meant a lot to them, which made their wedding even more personal and special. From getting ready at a relative’s house in Mariemont to enjoying a wedding cake made by Alison’s aunt, family and friends were a big part of their day. We asked Alison to share a little about making the day unique to her and Mike as a couple. “We wanted all of the out of town guests to see a unique side of Cincinnati,” she said, “so we rented out the whole Mariemont Inn, who hosted both the after party (complete with skyline cheese coneys) and the brunch the morning after. Everyone went to the Dilly Deli to enjoy live music and beautiful weather after the rehearsal dinner. I was actually in my mom’s belly when she attended the grand opening party of the National Exemplar, it’s a place we’ve been going my whole life.”

Alison told us that the “first look” she shared with Michael on the Mariemont Concourse was one of her favorite moments of the day. “With all the anticipation of getting ready, it was great to finally see each other and in a private, beautiful setting,” she said.

After their first look, they were able to take some gorgeous portraits together.

The wardrobe choices for the day were chosen to fit Alison and Mike’s personal taste. The bride and bridesmaids all wore J Crew and the guys wore khaki suits with bow ties to go with the couples personal style, which Alison described as “not too formal and preppy.” She added that the bridesmaids “added belts for the reception to accessorize and show off their personal style.” That’s great way to let your bridesmaids add a little more of who they are to your wedding day while still keeping within your style as bride and groom.

Walking down the aisle with her dad and seeing Mike at the end also made Alison’s list of favorite moments from the wedding day. It’s one of ours, too! :)

Another favorite moment: “the bus ride from the ceremony to the reception. Mike and I were on cloud 9, with the excitement of just being married. We had all of our best friends with us and an awesome soundtrack.”

Alison and Mike chose a striking blue and green color scheme with pops of pink. The bright colors were a great choice for their Ault Park reception.

Alison shares this advice to brides-to-be currently in the planning stages: “Have fun with it and go with your gut and personal style. It doesn’t have to be like everyone else’s. And whatever you do, enjoy the day– never again will you have all of your family and friends in one place. Take a moment to thank your family. Go with the airbrush makeup and wear a dress you’re comfortable in.”

Asha and Nick | Northern KY Engagement

Asha and Nick had a great engagement session in Northern Kentucky with Steve! They made great use of Covington, visiting the Roebling Bridge and Devou Park for their portraits together. The sunset and light at dusk made for great images! Asha and Nick are getting married on April 21, 2012 and we’re very excited to share their wedding day with them!

Kristen and Jason | Cincinnati Engagement Session

It was late October when Kristen and Jason met with Steve for their engagement session. They met at Eden Park (Cincinnati, Ohio) and made great use of the area to create fun images full of personality.

Julie and Chris | Cincinnati Wedding

Maria and Nick | Cincinnati Engagement Session

Maria and Nick met Steve at Ault Park in November for their engagement session. They made great use of the different parts of Ault Park and even got some fun photos on the swing set.

I love the small series on the swings! Romantic and a little whimsical, and proof that you can use even the most simple things to get emotive images. :)

Cristin and Grant met up with Steve back in July for their engagement session. They met downtown at Piatt Park and took some really cute photos. They’re an adorable couple and we’re so excited for their June 16th wedding at the Cincinnati Art Museum!

Abigail and Dane | Cincinnati Wedding

Abigail and Dane were married on July 9, 2011. The ceremony took place at Abigail’s church, North Bend United Methodist. Many vendors for their wedding were connected to them personally, whether they were friends, family or co-workers, which made for an extra special day.

For these images of Abigail, Steve utilized the available light in the room. There was a light fixture hanging above the table, which he used to light this set of photos.
They turned out beautifully! It helps that Abigail is absolutely stunning!

I love the window light in the next two shots! It adds a gorgeous sense of drama.

Erin and Ken | Cincinnati Wedding

Christine and Steven | Cincinnati Wedding

It was a rainy day in June that Christine and Steven were married. The weather didn’t keep them from having a beautiful wedding, though! Let’s take a look. :)

Ceremony: Grace Lutheran Church

I love the detail of Christine’s dress! She wore such a beautiful gown.

A great option for rainy day portraits is to shoot inside The Westin downtown in Cincinnati. Christine and Steven went there for some solo and group portraits before the wedding.

Christine’s bouquet was absolutely beautiful! I love the lace and pearl details and the color scheme she chose.

Steve captured some great moments between Christine and her parents before the ceremony (and a great shot of Christine and her father at the reception later in this post)!

Congratulations, Christine and Steven! Your day was so apparently full of love and support and we’re glad to have been apart of it. Best wishes to you in your first year of marriage! :)
